What is a General Contractor?

When you begin planning a construction project, you’ll quickly realize how many different specialists are required to complete the work, such as a flooring contractor, cabinetry specialist, plumber, electrician, and more.

A general contractor hires and organizes all the different teams required to complete your project. EMS General Contractors has an in-house team, all of whom have proven themselves to stand by our values of honest hard work and integrity.

What If You Find Something Unexpected During The Job?

If any issues are found during the job that are not listed on estimates, those repairs and materials will be additional costs.

At What Point In the Planning Should I Hire A General Contractor?

It really depends on the type of project you’re pursuing. If you’re working on a home addition or new construction (residential or commercial) that requires an architectural blueprint, it’s best to get that organized first. We have lots of experience working with drafters and architects directly, as well as with their technical plans.

If your project doesn’t require architectural plans, then it’s best to get us on the job right away. It’s much easier and more efficient to see a project through from beginning to end than to start somewhere in the middle of someone else’s work.

Are You Licensed?

Yes, we are proud to be a licensed general contracting company with a broad range of certifications to be a licensed Class A home improvement contracting company.

Can I Cancel My Contract Prior To Work Beginning?

Once the job is approved and paperwork is signed, a $500 cancellation fee would apply. Materials may be discounted.

Can I Pay With A Credit Card?

Yes. There is a 3% processing fee.

How Long Are Estimates Valid For?

Estimates are valid for 30 days from the day provided.

What Does A General Contractor Do?

As your general contractor, we will perform a range of tasks. During the initial consultation and planning phase, we will work with architects and blueprints to help you settle on the design and materials you want.  During the building phase, we play  the role of highly skilled craftspeople.

Does My Construction Job Need A Permit?

It depends on the size and type of job. The best thing to do is to call us and speak to one of our experts. In almost every case, we will apply for the proper building permits for you. This is one of the main benefits of hiring a general contractor.

As a side note, we take great care to stay updated on all recent changes to local building code regulations. It is important to us—for our reputation, licensing, and our client’s safety—that everything we do is compliant with local guidelines.

How Do I Find Out How Much My Project Will Cost?

Give us a call and speak to an expert. Once we sit down with you to sort out the details and construction schedule, we’ll be in a good place to determine your cost of general contracting services.

We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
